Cape Town based electro band, Rumswinger, are soon starting their tour around South Africa and Namibia and will be bringing their “Nu Wave Electro Pop” to the Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival in October.

The band consists of Carla Louw, Marné Gelderbloem, Lee Thompson and Simon Bates. These four musicians are all from different parts of the world and started performing together in 2012 when the band was put together for a new year’s party. They have been playing together ever since.

They only recently changed their name to “Rumswinger”.

“We used to be called ‘Rumspringer’, which means to “jump around”. That is exactly what we love to do.”

All members are full time musicians. Although they are part of various other music groups as well, Rumswinger is the only band touring at the moment. The band has been working with producers such as Kevin Ribbons and Ross McDonald to create new music.

They like to listen to anything that gets their feet tapping. “We usually just leave our Spotify playlist on random, and when something clicks, we explore.”

Their first EP, “Candy Bounce” was released in 2016. At the moment, they are performing music from their upcoming EP “Disco Dreams”.

Rumswinger have not only performed locally, but have also done shows in Europe and Asia. They describe being able to tour as the highlight of being in a band and have especially enjoyed performing in Berlin, Germany and Tokyo, Japan.

The band will be shooting a music video for one of their new songs, “Disco Dream” at the end of the month. They are already planning a tour abroad in 2018.

Rumswinger are starting their tour around South Africa and Namibia in October and November. They will be performing at Rocking the Daisies from 5-8 October as well as the Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival on 14 October.

More information can be found on their Facebook page and their music is available on SoundCloud.
