On Saturday, 8 March 2025, Aandklas hosted three bands that brought some great live music. The lineup included Sisters, The Man Motels and Ruff Majik. The night was filled with plenty of headbanging and engaging performances, all that would probably send a Victorian child into a daze.

The first band, Sisters, felt more like experiencing a science experiment than a Liturgical chant. When asked how they would describe their music, Cameron Lofstrand, main vocalist, guitarist and drummer, said, “We actually had a conversation about this recently and it’s quite difficult because even from song to song, it’s kind of different, but I think experimental is the best way [to describe it], because […] we just do what sounds cool to us. We always try to do something unusual. So, we don’t really like […] sticking to a genre, so we just try to experiment [and] to be experimental.”

Founded in Stellenbosch, The Man Motels intoxicated the crowd with their electric post-punk sound. “If you want to experience something really hard, like very raw, very gritty and something that’s really local, we are local and […] we try and project a sound that is international. So if you really want to […] delve into […] a little bit of underground [music], I think The Man Motels is for you,” remarked Garrith Holloway, main vocalist and guitarist.

“I don’t care if you want more, I want more.” The lead singer and guitarist of Ruff Majik, Johni Holiday, asserted on stage. Their immense stage presence created an atmosphere that made one feel like they were being possessed by the music. When asked if they took any inspiration from any artists, they responded, “Oh yeah, but inherently I think everyone does. Everything from the 70s till now –whatever sounds good to the ear – we’re actively stealing from other bands. We are accomplished thieves.”
