If you wanted to move and groove with South African artist, Keanan Eksteen, Aandklas was the place to be on Saturday 22 March. The evening was filled with an infusion of excitement, anticipation and, of course, Eksteen’s unique blend of classic rock ‘n roll and modern indie folk.

Before the start of the show, Eksteen set the mood for the rest of the night with a clever outfit change that went from a normal t-shirt to a white fur coat. Now, if that doesn’t say ‘let’s rock’ then I don’t know what does! The crowd was eased in with, “Maze of me” and then topped with Eksteen’s hit single, “UNDERCOVER” that made the audience sing, “dreaming of a body like yours tonight, such a pretty lover, kiss me undercover.”

During an interview with Die Matie, Eksteen shared that he hopes the takeaway that fans will have from his music is that “besides making you want to dance, (his music) also makes you feel something”. Attendee Grace Merfield shared the exact sentiment, expressing that, “ The way he is so passionate about his music really made me feel like I was experiencing something special. I loved the joy felt in the moment of singing along and that I could get lost in the moment and really feel the music.”

Other Eksteen originals that accompanied the already entertaining set were, “Golden Fever”, “Dixie Clouds”, “Red Wine” and “Your Company”. Eksteen saved the best for last, or rather his favorite songs to perform for last as he ended the night with, “Somebody” and “Myself”.

“If you weren’t before, come and watch our shows live and after that you’ll probably be a fan.” said Eksteen when asked what message he would like to share. So why not take his advice and catch Keanan Eksteen live on Saturday, 26 april, 18:30 at Noordhoek in Cape Town?
