Noblemen launch first EP

Aandklas Stellenbosch once again blessed us with some fantastic local music. This past Saturday the bands Bam Bam Brown, Dope Folks, and Noblemen performed at Sleepwalkers and we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to have a look at Noblemen’s new EP, These Roads. This six-piece indie/rock ’n roll band, Noblemen, is originally from the streets of Paarl. Having opened for the likes of Jack Parow and Native Young, their high energy on stage, groovy drums, slick guitar riffs, and melodic vocals, make Noblemen something to experience live.

The band consists of Jay Rabie on vocals and guitar, Nick Farmer on keyboard and vocals, Elron van der Berg on bass guitar and vocals, Darren de Bruyn on rhythm guitar and “other sick shit”, Dirkie Joubert on drums and Ruan de Jager on lead guitar. These Roads is Noblemen’s first EP and contains five singles. It is very high energy and best described as having a certain “grooviness” to it. The band finally got to record it after winning Mercury Live’s battle of the bands.

The EP flows very well, with the intro song “Daisy” being the clear standout. With a sound that can only be described as Kings of Leon and All American Reject’s lovechild, slapping together electric guitar and incredible vocals, it is the perfect start to the EP. The second song “Staying” left us speechless by ending off with a guitar solo for the books. The EP concludes with the single “Find Yourself” where the band comes together effortlessly as a unit, leaving the listener longing for more. “We are super stoked to finally be able to reach ears around the world,” the band says. These Roads can be found on all major online platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.

They are performing at The Blackhorse Centre in Stellenbosch on 27 September, at Sofar Sounds live performance on 24 October and at the Paarl Amphitheatre on 12 November.
