There are several current important updates on campus regarding quotas, bursaries, and funding opportunities. Especially with the absence of the administrative contact point, Admin A, students have faced considerable challenges, as key applications and processes have slowed down due to the location change.

On 14 August, a “Financial Chess” information session was held at the GC Cillie building to clarify the current situation and highlight available funding options.
Students wishing to increase their meal, printing, or washing machine quotas had to do so via the online system by 23:59 on Saturday, 16 August 2025. After this deadline, payments can only be made online through the Maties Student Fees page or SnapScan.
Addressing quota and COB issues, Student Fees Administrator,Thabo Tyholweni, explained that the system no longer spreads arrears or overpayments evenly across future installments. Instead, amounts are applied in full to the next instalment, making late payments immediately due and visible on accounts.
Redolent Hlatshwayo, Senior Information Officer, answered questions regarding bursaries and loans. She repeatedly urged students to apply for scholarships and loans early. She recommended “carefully reviewing the official website for information on different types of funding.” She further advised students to “apply early and scan and upload documents in clear, non-blurry quality” to improve their chances of acceptance.
