The name says it all – The Pretty Blog’s Instagram is filled with all things pretty.

Based in Stellenbosch, this Instagram account has over 80 thousand followers and more than 4000 posts. And every picture is absolute goals. The popular lifestyle and fashion blog’s creator, Christine Meintjies, an international award winningphotographer, also runs the blog’s Instagram.

The different photographs that she posts creates a beautiful style and layout that showcases food, fashion, photography and more.

“The pictures are a combination of either ones that I have taken myself (@cmeintjes) or pictures that I find by other artists (photographers/designers etc.) that inspire me on other social platforms such as Instagram or Pinterest – if the photo was taken by someone else, we always tag them.”

While most of us snap a picture and post it whenever we want, The Pretty Blog’s Instagram post has a behind the scenes process. The pictures are edited before posting and a number of posts are planned out ahead.

“In this way, I am able to curate the Instagram account according to a specific look and feel that I want,” Christine says.

She uses VSCOcam for editing the photos on her phone, and Lightroom when editing on her computer.

The Instagram and blog reflect each other but they are independent from each other. They do, however, fit perfectly
together and Christine loves both platforms for different reasons.

“I love that with Instagram, you get to really engage with the audience. Instagram is also very quick and easy to share a picture about absolutely anything, whereas putting together an article on the blog, takes a lot more time.”

Christine explains that Instagram is also a great platform when she is looking for some new inspiration.

“Instagram is the first place that I go to for inspiration. I love that there are so many beautiful Instagram profiles all over the world that I can constantly draw inspiration from.”
