By Anica Hattingh

The mission of Sara Klere is simple – to bring high-end thrifting to Stellenbosch while supporting a good cause, the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation. In a video of the opening ceremony hosted on 29 August, Hanna Grobler, the founder, shared her enthusiasm for the thrift store and thanked the management for their support in the endeavour.

Grobler shared that, “[w]hen you tap your card, 100% [of the sale] goes to [their] soup kitchens.” She also mentioned that the store is fully reliant on the clothes donated by individuals. In a post on Sara Klere’s Instagram, it is mentioned that the unsold clothes are donated to clothing banks within the communities where the charity is active. In Stellenbosch these include Smartietown and Pine Street, Cloetesville – areas where the foundation continues its outreach and empowerment work.

With fashion staples for almost every individual, Sara Klere truly caters to every need. From breezy summer skirts and shorts to timeless blazers, cozy knits, and statement accessories, there is something for everyone to discover. Whether you’re hunting for a vintage gem, a wardrobe basic, or simply a stylish bargain, the store offers a curated selection that blends sustainability with sophistication.

This unique initiative allows shoppers to indulge in guilt-free fashion, knowing that each purchase helps feed families, uplift communities, and promote sustainability – all while keeping Stellenbosch stylishly conscious.
