Die Matie is the official student newspaper of Stellenbosch University since 1 August 1941.
Die Matie adheres to the South African Press Code, and the editorial team are committed to journalism that is honest, fair, ethical, and independent.
Apart from a few special printed editions every year (of which 5 000 copies are distributed), for example the Welcoming Edition in February, Die Matie’s content is available online at diematie.com, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
The editorial content includes sections on news, student life, current affairs, arts and entertainment, and sport.
Die Matie’s entire production process – from photography, writing of articles and news reports, copy editing, page layout, distribution, online publishing, marketing, and managing social media platforms – is executed by the editorial team – who are all students at Stellenbosch University.
Die Matie’s office is located on the third floor of the Neelsie Student Centre in De Beer Street, Stellenbosch.
