Two residents from Majuba Men’s Residence were expelled from all Stellenbosch University (SU) residences by the Central Disciplinary Committee of SU. They have been found guilty of two out of three charges against them pertaining to an incident at Majuba on 2 March.
The implicated students entered Kylo Le Roux’s room in Majuba and removed property without his permission.
Following an investigation, the hearing of SU’s Central Disciplinary Committee (CDC) took place on 12 May.
Three students were charged as follows, according to Martin Viljoen, SU Media Manager: (1) Entering the room of a fellow student without his permission; (2) Removing the bed, mattresses and couch which were in the student’s room without his permission and placing it in the quad of Majuba Residence; and (3) Scattering various of his items including clothes and shoes across the floor in his room.
Two students pleaded guilty to, and were found guilty of, only the first two infringements, according to Viljoen.
Both of them had five working days (from 12 May) to appeal the outcome, in which case the matter would be taken to the Disciplinary Appeals Committee. By the time of publication Die Matie could not confirm whether the students appealed the outcome.

The disciplinary process is directed by the Disciplinary Code for Students of SU. Viljoen said the following sanctions were imposed on the students: “(1) Expulsion from all SU Residences; (2) 50 hours of community service; (3) they are not eligible for leadership positions for the 2026/2027 academic year and; and (4) publication of the outcome on SU Notice Boards.”
Viljoen said a third student, also a resident of Majuba, has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His legal representative requested a separate hearing, which the CDC chairperson granted.
Once a new CDC panel is constituted, a date for the hearing will be set.
On 13 May, Vanessa Le Roux, mother of the affected student, Kylo Le Roux, said to Die Matie, “They actually surprised me. They [the CDC] called for a harsher sentence than we did. And they got it. I am thankful that the student community could see that there are consequences for what they are doing.”
Viljoen said, “The committee works independently without influence or interference of University Management in disciplinary and outcomes.”
The matter has also been dealt with separately by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
On 13 May Vanessa Le Roux said to Die Matie, “Regarding the initial criminal case, we are waiting for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to make a final decision.”
By the time of publication, SAPS has not yet responded to Die Matie’s enquiries.
The Le Roux family has also opened a case of intimidation against the Vice-Prim of Majuba. Vanessa said to Die Matie on 13 May that Kylo also obtained an interim protection order against the Vice-Prim.
Die Matie has not been able to independently verify this claim, but we are awaiting feedback from the Vice-Prim.
On 12 May, shortly after the CDC hearing, Vanessa Le Roux posted, “1 Down. 1 to go!!” on the Parents for Equal Education South Africa (PEESA) Facebook Page.
The Majuba case is still ongoing, and Die Matie will provide updates when they are available.

What happened here is a undisputed clear Act of Racism that must be fully investigated by both SAPS and the Human Rights Commission as this is definitely a Crime Against Human and this pre Democracy Kragdadig Behavior against Indigenous People can never ever be tolerated again in a supposedly New South Africa.
The only way this Apartheid style behavior will be eradicated is for the GNU to table a Motion to Parliament for the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and ILO169 to be Ratified and Implemented together with the Remedying of the 2018 Hearings Reports.
My Late Great Uncle, Jan Marais, must be turning in his Grave as he had bequested the greater part of his Wealth to Stellenbosch University so that it could become a leading Global Educational Institution.
